    A Rose for the Resistance

Published by Connie Porter Saunders on Apr 03, 2022

Two French siblings, a German soldier, and a British pilot become unlikely allies in this new book by author Angela K. Crouch. A Rose for the Resistance is set in France during the years 1940-1944, and we see the destruction that the Germans incurred on both the countryside and its people. I quickly became invested in Rosalie Barrieau's initial efforts to keep her younger brother Marcel from joining the French Resistance movement, until she became involved herself. Franz Kafka is a German soldier who aids a British pilot and also offers assistance to the Barrieau family, but is he sincere? Does he truly want to help them, and is he worthy of Rosalie's trust? Reading this book reminded me of the German's brutality, and it's given me a new understanding of the French who bravely resisted the German invasion. A Rose for the Resistance is a well-researched story that shines a light on the many kinds of devastation that occurs during war, and it's a poignant reminder that men may be forced to fight in wars that they don't support! I was touched by the faith that shines through Franz's character, and his realization that he doesn't support this war. Rosalie's bravery and her willingness to accept a German soldier's friendship makes her special indeed! This book is a compelling addition to the WWII Heroines series, and I recommend it to all who enjoy historical Christian romance. I received a complimentary copy of this book from Barbour Publishing and was under no obligation to post a review. These are my own thoughts.
