Description

Where Is the Hope in Grief for a Young Amish Widow?

Sylvia has been nearly paralyzed with grief and anxiety since the tragic death of her husband, father, and brother in a traffic accident. She tries to help in the family’s greenhouse while caring for her two young children, but she prefers not to have to deal with customers. Her mother’s own grief causes her to hover over her children and grandchildren, and Sylvia seeks a diversion. She takes up birdwatching and soon meets an Amish man who teaches her about local birds. But Sylvia’s mother doesn’t trust Dennis Weaver, and as the relationship sours, mysterious attacks on the greenhouse start up again.

The Mockingbird's Song by Wanda E. Brunstetter

Published by Connie Porter Saunders on Oct 31, 2020

This is the second book in the Amish Greenhouse Mystery series and I was anxious to see how the Beiler family was doing following the tragic accident that occurred in The Crow's Call. One year later, all of them are still dealing with the trauma of losing three beloved family members. There are also many questions that added great interest to this story as I kept searching for answers. Who continues to cause trouble with the acts of vandalism at the family greenhouse? Why is Virginia, the English neighbor across the road, so unhappy and why does she dislike the Amish so much? Will the two men who are showing interest in both Belinda and Sylvia become part of this family? Is there a second chance at love for these Beiler women or will romance cause more problems for their family? Author Wanda E. Brunstetter once again shows that Amish people aren't immune to problems, heartaches, and even doubts, but in the end, their faith helps carry them through. The Mockingbird's Song is an inspiring, intriguing, and entertaining addition to the Amish Greenhouse Mystery series and fans of Brunstetter and Amish fiction won't be disappointed! I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. I wasn't obligated to write a favorable review and these are my own thoughts.

    Another Amazing Installment!

Published by Molly Jaber on Oct 30, 2020

Once again, Wanda Brunstetter has hit a home run with this next installment in her Amish Greenhouse Mystery series! We're taken back to the grieving characters, who are now dealing with so much more. Brunstetter's ability to have a story pick up and carry on with the timeline, is absolutely amazing. Each book she writes, feels like another amazing movie playing out on the big screen. The characters are once again chiseled beautifully and the emotions they struggle with while dealing with vandalism and a new comer quickly become the reader's emotions. I felt their pain, their happiness, their questions and their connections as if they were my own! I absolutely love that feeling when I read books like this. Definitely worthy of 4 stars and high recommendations. The Mockingbird's Song, is a story of hope, faith, love and loss. It's a story that will sweep you up and carry you away until you reach the last page, and it will leave you ready for the next one! Hats off to Brunstetter for another hit! *I received a complimentary copy of this book from Author/Publisher and was under no obligation to post a review, positive or negative.*

    Book 2

Published by Cathy Cermele on Oct 29, 2020

The Mockingbird’s Song is the second book in the Amish Greenhouse Mystery series by Ms. Brunstetter. The family is still grieving the deaths of their family members with Sylvia having the most difficult time of coming to terms with the loss of not only her father and brother but also the loss of her husband and father of her two young children. It’s been a difficult time for the loved ones left to try to carry on with their lives, especially Sylvia who has moved home with her mother, sister, younger brother and her two kids. She has faced so many challenges in coping with her new normal life. The one thing that hasn’t changed is the fact that someone is making more mischief for the family trying to cause problems and interfere with their greenhouse business. I have narrowed it down to two suspects but the author will probably prove me wrong which I’m perfectly with but I am so anxious to find out who the hateful culprit is. I really enjoyed this story, seeing Sylvia come out of her shell while spending time with her brother as they enjoy bird watching together. It was nice to see the two siblings open up to each other while sharing a hobby but also watching Sylvia learn to live life to the fullest was heartwarming, too. I suggest reading The Crow’s Call first to familiarize with this sweet family and their story. I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher. All opinions are my own.

    The Mystery Continues!

Published by OhioMom on Oct 28, 2020

The Mockingbird's Song is book 2 in Wanda Brunstetter's Amish Greenhouse Mystery series. In this latest installment of the series, we find that life has moved on for each of the members of the King family after the tragedy they experienced in the 1st book of the series, The Crow's Call. Healing comes at different speeds for each character in this book.Amy has moved forward with her plans to marry Jared in the fall. The matriarch of the family, Belinda, continues to rely on prayer to see her through her lonely days as she misses her husband. The greatest healing seems to take place in Sylvia. While she spent much of the 1st book in a state of deep depression over the loss of her husband Toby, this book finds her moving past her grief and embarking on a new relationship. And yet there are some mysteries that remain still unsolved in this second book. For instance, what happened to the neighbor lady, Virginia's leg? Why does she despise Amish people so much? Why is she in a near frantic state living out in the country? And just who is committing all of these acts of vandalism against The King family and their family- run greenhouse? Also what secrets is Monroe Esh hiding? The 3rd book in the series is due out in march of 2021. I have been surprised by the events in this series so far and cannot wait to see how Ms. Brunstetter brings it all to a close. I received an advanced copy of this book through Netgallery and Barbour Publishing. While I was under no obligation to provide a review, it has been my pleasure to do so.

    2nd book

Published by melissa fox on Oct 28, 2020

I enjoyed the second book of this series better than the first one. I felt like this one flowed better. This book is continues with the story of the King family as each family member copes and works through the grief of losing 3 family members in a buggy accident. This particular book focuses more on Sylvia who in the first book was only able to basically function as she was so grief stricken after her dad, brother, and husband all died in the buggy accident. She was living in surivival mode as she moved back in with her mother and took care of her two young children during that first year of living as a widow. A new character, Dennis who is just moved to the area, is introduced in this book. He ends up renting out Sylvia's house that she lived in with her late husband. Dennis and Sylvia are attracted to each other. The matriarch, Belinda, is facing the reality that her children will all one day move out and leave her alone. Her daughter Amy has recebtly gotten married. She is having trouble with Henry, her teenage son. And how her daughter who moved back in has taken an interest in this new man. I think that Wanda did a great job showing how no one person exeriences grief the same or at the same rate. That there are days when one might cop better and days that are more diffucult. The vandelism that was happening to the greenhouse stops for a short while but than continues. It is still a mystery as to who is causing the trouble.

    Awesome read!

Published by Sharon Dean on Oct 26, 2020

Always so exciting to sit down and read one of Wanda’s novels. And this Amish mystery did not disappoint. I love how Wanda incorporates the Amish life with the greenhouse mystery. The characters are deep and inspiring in living and walking with God. We learn so much more about Virginia and see remarkable strides with Sylvia. Clearly the mystery isn’t solved yet and I look forward to reading book 3. I was given a copy of this book by the Author and a review was not required. This review is my own.
