A Ministry of Letter Writing Restores Hope to the Writer

Doretta Schwartz used to be so happy and passed her positive attitude along to friends in several letters she wrote each month. But that all changed the day she learned of her fiancé’s death and a heavy weight of depression fell upon her. Feeling empty, she puts away her letter writing and won’t even respond to calls from friends. William’s twin brother, Warren, is also grieving his loss, while at the same time, trying to be supportive to his parents and Doretta. Doretta responds to Warren’s friendship, but is he just becoming a replacement for the once-in-a-lifetime love she lost?

    The Power of Friendship!

Published by Connie Porter Saunders on Aug 30, 2023

Remember when writing letters was a chief source of communication for everyone? I was always so excited to find a letter in my mailbox and this new book is a lovely reminder of that simple joy. In Letters of Comfort, it's Doretta Schwartz's turn to find encouragement and solace in the letters that she exchanges with her friend Eleanor Lapp. Doretta's grief over the death of her soon-to-be husband has become her constant companion and she's also recovering from the injuries she received in the tragic accident. Will Eleanor's letters pull Doretta from the depths of depression that threaten her once cheerful existence? Author Wanda E. Brunstetter is known for writing encouraging stories of family and faith and Letters of Comfort is no different, but there's also grief that comes from tragedy and the feelings of depression that often occur in the aftermath. This is an emotional story of learning to accept loss, attempting to find a new normal, and welcoming second chances. The letters between Eleanor and Doretta add a special touch. and there's even a recipe for Doretta's Apple Muffins. I recommend this book to all who enjoy Amish contemporary fiction and look forward to the third book in the Friendship Letters series. I received a copy of this book from the author and publisher. There was no obligation for a positive review. These are my own thoughts.

5 stars, Instant Life Changes LETTERS OF COMFORT (FRIENDSHIP LETTERS BOOK 2) By Wanda Brunstetter Your life can change in an instant, as Doretta knows, she lost her fiance and all of her hopes and dreams for the future. She battles deep depression as she tries to overcome her losses. Doretta's best friend Eleanor writes her letters of hope and prayers for healing. Warren lost the other half of himself when his identical twin brother William died. He struggles with knowing the right thing to do since he and William were going to start a business together, he doesn't feel like he can do it by himself, so he leans on the One who is there for us. Highly recommend. "My love for you will never die." A simple sentence that conveys so much. Loved it!

Published by Jeanette Fallon on Aug 13, 2023

In her new book, Wanda is exploring the topic of depression. Depression runs in my family so it was close to home. Doretta suffered a loss. This loss triggered a depression that Doretta couldn't just snap out of or shake off. Doretta was fortunate to have friends and family that were there for her. She didn't ask for help but she knew that it was there if needed. A story that is entertaining and educational. I read this in two days. I couldn't stop.

Published by sylvia on Aug 09, 2023

Doretta , suffered a tragedy, prior to her marriage to William, it was such a loss, that she went into a depression, for months, as her family and friends stayed faithful, during te healing of her injuries, both physical and emotional, as she allowed the word to encourage her, reading 30 days of comfort from, her beloved friend Eleanor who continued her support, even when Doretta didn't really want it. A sweet ending to a wonderful story. So relevent for today.
