Description

The King James Version of the Bible has stood the test of time.

Now it’s catching up with the times.

The Barbour Simplified KJV builds off the familiarity and trustworthiness of the King James Bible while removing the difficulties of antiquated language and punctuation.
Keeping all the original translation work of the 1611 Bible, this version carefully updates old styles that may interfere with your understanding today:

  • outdated verb styles are refreshed—for example, art becomes are; gavest becomes gave
  • old forms of address—like thee, thou, and ye—are updated
  • confusing older terms—such as wroth or divers—are modernized
  • pronouns for God—He, His, Him, You, Yours, Me, My—are capitalized for clarity
  • quotation marks are included with spoken language
  • long sentences are shortened with modern punctuation
  • paragraphs are added throughout

The Barbour Simplified KJV maintains the feel of the original King James while noticeably increasing its readability, bringing the trustworthy old translation into the 21st century.
And now it’s available in easy-on-the-eyes large print with thumb indexing!

    SKJV BARBOUR SIMPLIFIED Large print

Published by Teresa Baumbach on Dec 01, 2025

This is the perfect Bible for me. The print is large and the pages are what I appreciate. You don't see the words from the other pages coming through. Not sure how to say it, but if he pages are too thin my eyes can see the words from the other pages and it tires my eyes. Smells so good. Easy to grip cover, won't slip out of my hands. Can't say anything about the actual translation yet.

    Bible review

Published by Mark on Jun 11, 2025

I was a little disappointed with this Bible after ordering it. It still uses some archaic words like grave in 1 Timothy. I had ordered the gray pewter prior which had updated all archaic words. They need to be more consistent from Bible to Bible. I was told they decided to leave grave in this Bible because most people know what it means. Then why the SKJV, Might as well stay with the KJV. I also felt paper quality was mediocre for a Bible at this price.
