Description

Pride, Pemberley, and Second Chances

When history-loving Olivia Bennett’s teaching contract isn’t renewed, she is considered her family’s logical choice to care for her ailing grandmother in a tiny English village. While there, she soon finds additional work at nearby Hartbury Hall—one of England’s great houses once used as Pemberley in a filmed production of Pride and Prejudice. The head gardener there, however, proves to be anything but the gentlemanly hero of that famous book. Little does she know that behind Liam Browne’s brusque exterior is both a family tragedy and a legacy that demands truth and honor, creating a crisis that only Liv’s vivacious determination can resolve. Along the way, she may just learn that appearances count for naught. . .and that love can be found in unexpected ways.

    Gobsmacking Good

Published by Lelia (Lucy) Reynolds on Dec 30, 2025

This book took me by surprise as I’m not a big Jane Austin fan but I really enjoyed it. The characters are great with lots of push and pull which ensues with moments that had me laughing and others that had my heart sighing. I loved the originality of the story and I felt like I was walking the halls of Hartbury Hall as well as the paths of the gardens. That regency Christmas ball had me swooning and looking for a fainting couch. Well written story that flows well and ebbs right into your heart. This is the first book in The Silver Teapot series and now I’m anxiously awaiting more. A book of faith, family, secrets, sweet romance, learning to trust, and a village you want to live in. I suggest adding this to your must read pile. I received a complimentary copy from Barbour Publishing. The honest review and opinions are my own and were not required.

    Delightful Contemporary Romance

Published by Connie Porter Saunders on Dec 19, 2025

Picture a wounded soul versus an overly enthusiastic optimist. Throw in a beautiful English setting, the grumpy gardener who may not be what he seems, along with a cast of wonderful supporting characters, and the result is SO satisfying! Not Exactly Mr. Darcy alludes to the beloved character from Pride and Prejudice, but this certainly isn't a retelling. Realistic emotions, tantalizing romantic tension, and the promise of a second chance make this an enjoyable read in its own right, as Liam Browne and Olivia Bennett discover a special connection! I've loved Carolyn Miller's earlier Regency romances and enjoyed several of her contemporary stories, so this charming combination of the two genres is especially delightful! It's also the first book in a new series, so I have more enjoyment to look forward to in the next book of The Silver Teapot series. I recommend Not Exactly Mr. Darcy to all who enjoy sweet inspirational romance! I received a complimentary copy of this book from Barbour Publishing and was under no obligation to post a review.
