A Nice Get-Away-From-It-All Kind of Book

Published by ShoppingTilIDrop on Mar 09, 2022

I was reading this book during my first semester of grad school and honestly it was a nice escape from all things academic. I found myself laughing aloud and enjoying the characters. If I had to rate the stories in order by favorite to "I still liked it but I liked others better" then they'd rank as follows: Not For Love, All That Glitters, Winter Roses, Undercover Logger. The chemistry between the lumberjack and lady was the biggest factor in my rankings...that, and how much I liked the male lead. ;) None of the female leads annoyed me like with other novella collections; I related to them actually. I could see myself rereading these stories in the future for the pleasure of it. I received a complimentary copy of this book from Barbour Publishing and was under no obligation to post a review-- but this book deserved a good one!

    Lumberjacks & Ladies---Great Novella Collection!

Published by Connie Porter Saunders on Feb 13, 2022

Are you like me, and sometimes just need a short read? Then this is the book for you! You can snuggle up in your favorite reading chair and begin a thrilling journey with one of these four novellas that are short in length but full of enjoyment. These novellas are set in the northern timberlands of the United States, and each of them shares the grit and determination that was such a vital part of our nation's development during the 1800s. Be prepared to brave the elements, fight for what is right, and perhaps, lose your heart along the way. From 1851 Maine to 1865 Michigan, to 1881 Wisconsin, and finally to 1890 Illinois, there are swoon-worthy heroes, ladies in need, matches of love and marriages of convenience. You'll find deception, mystery, and intrigue, along with inspiring messages of hope and faith, and the rich historical details that are so important to history lovers. All from the amazing talents of Candice Sue Patterson, Pegg Thomas, Naomi Musch, and Jennifer Lamott Leo. Barbour Publishing has given us several great collections in the past, and I rate Lumberjacks & Ladies as one of their best. Grab a copy and treat yourself to some great historical fiction! I received a complimentary copy of this book from Barbour Publishing and was under no obligation to post a review. These are my own thoughts.
