Miracles Happen

Adapted from Devotions and Prayers for a Joyful Heart by Lindsey Miller

Jesus looked at them and said, “With man it is impossible, but not with God. For all things are possible with God.”
Mark 10:27 ESV

Five miles down, at the bottom of the ocean, lives the Mariana snailfish. The amount of pressure this fish endures would obliterate other animals. However, its rubbery bones allow the fish to thrive where others cannot.

Most of us, however, aren’t born with the ability to flourish under duress. Perhaps the weight of life seems to be crushing you slowly. You’ve become acutely aware of your own fragility. When others tell you that you can do it—that you’re stronger than you know—it is difficult to believe.

The reason it’s hard to accept what they say is because it is not true. When you are met with an impossible situation, you can’t do it. You know exactly how much strength you have—not much.

Those facts are irrelevant, though. When God gets involved, nothing is out of your reach. The power to change reality begins with prayer, not sheer will or determination. If it would take a miracle to bring you peace and joy, that’s okay—with God, those happen every day!

God, I will not focus on the limitations I see. I will direct my attention toward the glory You will receive when a miracle comes to pass.
