Shauna Alexander is fresh out of college and ready to tackle the world. She has a boyfriend and she has just gotten a job at a daycare center working with the 2-year-old class. Not exactly what she expected since she has worked more with older children, but she knows this is God's plan for her, so she accepts it and can't wait for her first day. Only her first day doesn't turn out quite like she has planned. One child in her class just will not listen or obey her at all and she is at her wit's end. Finally the day is over and she goes to pick up her computer that was being worked on and meets a very nice man who is the pastor of a local church, Kent Chapman. Through a mistake of the computer shop, they end up with each other's computers which leads to another meeting and eventually getting to know each other better. But what could happen between them since she already has a man in her life?

Kent Chapman has just taken over as interim pastor for the church he was youth minister at. Even though it is tough on him at first, he really enjoys leading the congregation and feels that he is just where God wants him. However at home he is struggling with his little girl and his personal life. His little girl Charity is two years old and her mother died shortly after she was born so Kent is raising her alone with the help of his parents. He struggles with her discipline knowing she really needs a mother in her life, so he tends to give in to her more often than not. Then he meets Shauna and he feels that God maybe trying to tell him something. But what will Kent do when he realizes that the two-year-old terror Shauna has talked about being in her classroom turns out to be his own daughter?

Sweet Charity is a beautifully written story. The characters are very realistic, the story moves along at a great pace, nothing seems to be left out and the ending is magical in itself. I loved reading about how these characters came together and the growing they do within themselves and with their walk with God. The spiritual element comes through loud and clear, and is beautifully done. It all feels real, nothing feels contrived and when I finished reading this story I felt uplifted. I felt like I really knew these two people (and Charity) and that is a rare quality in a book. Janice Thompson works magic in this sweet love story that I know will stay with me for a long time.
