Landon Snow's eleventh birthday is here, and he is thrilled to be heading to his grandparents' house. There Landon settles in comfortably into his grandfather's library. Unfortunately, his grandfather's minor accident leaves Landon pondering if life is an accident or if there is a purpose to a person's existence.

As Landon is thinking things through, a mysterious doorway behind the bookshelves appears. Landon sets off on a magical adventure packed with creatures of another realm and challenging riddles that Landon must find help to solve.

"Could it be chance, mere circumstance
That man eats cow eats grass eats soil
And then man dies, and when he lies
To soil he does return?"

At first glance, LANDON SNOW seemed to be a Lemony Snicket rip-off. The book is set up with that same smaller, hardcover size and the cover blurb shares the same wicked, yet humorous, tone that the Lemony Snicket books contain. All comparisons stop there, however.

Landon Snow is a refreshing character. He goes on an amazing adventure without gloom and doom following him closely. The tone of this story is much lighter and not quite as scary making it a perfect choice for certain readers. Ties to the Bible also make it an excellent choice for Christian parents who want their child to find enjoyment with a more wholesome, less graphic novel.
