Four romantic stories lie within the covers of KANSAS HOME. Set during the post Civil-War era, DARLING CASSIDY begins this four part drama of courage and self-discovery in the lives of the Sinclair and St. John women. Fleeing Missouri for the frontier, Cassidy Sinclair finds herself in desperate need to support herself and her orphaned niece. Driven to answer an advertisement for wife and mother, Cassidy embraces many adventures on the prairies of Kansas, testing the waters of her new life, her faith, and her struggles with adversity and fear. Can she dare to hope for love or will duty win out?

In TARAH’S LESSONS, young Tarah St. John takes on difficult students, and challenges society’s norms with her caring heart and commitment to children. Fiercely independent and outspoken, Tarah dares to rescue Laney and Ben from their destitute and derelict father as misunderstandings threaten to keep Tarah and the man she loves forever apart.

LANEY’S KISS riotously introduces us to the grown up, spirited Laney, a young woman full of contradictions, and talent. A truly believable Calamity-Jane, Laney charges through life, trying to find both her unique place and the fulfillment of her dream of owning a ranch of her own. Headstrong and self determined, she is repeatedly challenged by the choices of heart and the lessons of God. When her father returns, in the company of evil and dangerous men, her very life is at risk. This was my personal favorite.

In EMILY’S PLACE, the once orphaned Missouri girl makes a place for herself as a grown woman in the developing 1885 Kansas town. A sudden inheritance plunges her into business as an entrepreneur and forces love out of her life. Emily’s outspoken beliefs and oratorical talents for the suffragette movement brings her disfavor among the town’s good women. God answers her prayers in humorous and painful ways.

Through these four stories, strength of character and faith in God is shared across the generations as these four women grow through life’s challenges. Their love and commitment to God, one another, and others speaks across the centuries to show us that God and family are timeless and strong.

I encourage the reader to persevere through the somewhat slow beginning. The read will reward them as the stories unfold. I particularly enjoyed LANEY’S KISS and couldn’t put it down. As I read, God spoke to me about my own life as I identified with these women wrestling with their attitudes and God’s place in their lives.
