The Six Steps to Emotional Freedom by Dr. David ClarkeNobody’s perfect. Most of us willingly acknowledge we have some problems and areas of weakness in our lives, but we like to think, if we avoid the “really big stuff,” that we’re okay. But according to popular author and Christian psychologist David Clarke, every single person has an emotional problem—and it’s a serious situation. What’s the big deal? That each one of us has some personal issue rooted in the past that disrupts relationships, steals joy, and stunts our spiritual growth. Whether we struggle with ingrained patterns of faulty thinking, unhealthy emotional expression, or sinful behaviors . . . no one is “normal.”
The 6 Steps to Emotional Freedom offers a refreshingly honest approach to healing from emotional wounds. This practical manual relies on scriptural principles and presents the key steps necessary to overcome the pain of the past and walk in emotional wholeness. With his straightforward and humorous writing style, Clarke doesn’t shy away from the hard questions. There are no “easy answers” to difficult personal problems. For true change to occur, readers will be required to dig deep, work hard, and be willing to step outside his or her comfort zone.
The fact of the matter is, healing is hard work. But God is intimately involved in recovery, and He provides the power to heal. Even when our faith in Him is weak, God hangs in there and gets us through. Regardless of the issues and struggles, readers will be encouraged and reassured of God’s unconditional love for them and that they can—with God’s help and power—overcome their emotional problems and truly be changed.
By following these six basic steps—including building a support team for accountability, exposing the problem, facing unresolved pain, forgiving, establishing a new way of thinking, and building a new life—healing and wholeness will come with time and effort.
