An historical fiction work of mystery, suspense and romance, Downs and Warren’s OKSANA is an entertaining and satisfying read.

Settled in Russia, in the early 1900’s, this novel captures the political tension and contrasts royalty with commoners. Mennonite, Anton Johannovich Klassen’s curiosity leads him to a light in the forest, and eventually under oath to rescue and protect Oksana Terekhova, servant to Tsar Nikolai, in the wake of his loss of authority over the Russian Fatherland. Anton’s faith and hope in the Lord help him keep his word and find the strength he needs to complete his task.

A series of events results in a marriage under false pretense, mixed identities, trauma and an heir to the throne. A delicate weaving of truth and facade keeps the reader’s attention throughout the novel, with just enough suspense and satisfaction to whet the appetite for more.

Well done, Downs and Warren.
