The Spinster Brides Of Cactus CornerThe Spinster and the Cowboy By Lena Nelson Dooley
India Cunningham was helping with the fund raiser for the Cactus Corner Orphanage when she first saw Joshua Dillinger. Not that she recognized him. He was just another stranger stopping by to sample the succulent meat. She couldn't help noticing that his cowboy clothes were stiff and new. Something about him caught her eye, and she had a feeling he couldn't be trusted. When the stranger showed up at India's ranch and Nathan Hodges, her foreman, hired him as a ranch hand, India grew suspicious. Who was this man and what did he want at the Circle C Ranch?
Joshua Dillinger spent some time at the Circle C when he was twelve. He's never forgotten India, who could outride almost any cowboy on the ranch. She was a wild tomboy then. Now she's a beautiful woman. Joshua received a letter written by India's father before he died, asking Joshua to go to Arizona and help India run the ranch. He came, but India's doing a fine job on her own and would probably reject his help. But what happens if they fall in love? Could the big city lawyer turn his back on his home and live on a ranch? Or would the lady rancher have to leave the land she loves?
The Spinster and the Cowboy is an enticing story of a man and woman from different backgrounds, struggling with feelings they didn't anticipate and aren't sure they really want.
The Spinster and the Lawyer By Jerri Odell
Anika Windsor fell in love with Tucker Truesdale when they were both in law school. They even planned to marry. Then Tucker saw Anika marching in a suffrage rally and the wedding was off. Tucker couldn't abide a suffragist, and Anika had no intention of being tied to an arrogant, impossible. . .man!
Now years later they meet again, on opposite sides of a courtroom, as opposing lawyers. Both are good at their jobs, both are eloquent, and neither has changed their opinions since law school days. But in the midst of courtroom drama, old emotions begin to surface. Anika realizes when the trial is over Tucker will leave Cactus Corner for good, and that's just the way she wants it, isn't it?
Jeri Odell's The Spinster and The Lawyer is a clever tale about two strong-minded people whose opinions are carved in stone. Only God can change their minds. Perhaps that's part of His plan.
The Spinster and the Doctor By Frances Devine
Elaine Daley works at the Cactus Corner Orphanage. When a two-year old girl is dropped off at the orphanage, the workers believe she belongs to one of the saloon women. The child seems to be
in perfect health, but she screams, loudly and continuously. Elaine sends for Dan Murphy, the new doctor in town. Elaine isn't looking for romance, but when she meets Dan, something sizzles between them.
Dan Murphy is a man with a secret, and it isn't long before his past catches up with him, and the whispers begin. Can the budding relationship between Dan and Elaine survive the vicious gossip? Or will Elaine reject her one chance at true love?
Frances Devine's The Spinster and the Doctor is a
compassionate story of love and mercy, and of learning to trust against all odds.
The Spinster and the Tycoon By Vickie McDonough
Jody McMillian's morning prayer runs along the lines of "Please, Lord, don't' let Elmer buy my box dinner again this year." Every year at the box social, Elmer purchased her dinner and she was determined to eat with someone else this year. Still, it was a surprise when the good looking stranger bought the box dinner, even if it was by accident. He was waving his copy of the deed to the mercantile, next door to the orphanage in a temper tantrum, when he caught the eye of the overzealous auctioneer.
Jody feels like throwing a tantrum of her own, when she learns Aaron plans to build a hotel on the site of the mercantile, the very building the volunteers at the orphanage want to buy. They
just about had the money to do it too, and then he rode into town. Jody maybe a small town woman, but she knows how to fight for what she wants. Aaron is determined to build his hotel, but that frustrating McMillian woman keeps getting in his way, and if the situation isn't bad enough, love whacks him up the side of the head, just to get his attention.
