News, Press & Reviews

Through her novel, THE WIDOWS’ CLUB, Joyce Livingston deals with her grief and the realization that life goes on. Livingston’s characters Valentine, Reva, Sally, Bitsy and Wendy share common ground in the loss of their spouses and reach out to each other in friendship and support.

Widowed Valentine’s high school rival appears on the scene, with everything intact except her multiple marriages, and an old jealousy issue resurfaces.
Eventually Valentine recognizes her flawed attitude and her need of forgiveness, as well as the mutual need for love and acceptance.

With an upbeat attitude, Livingston brings hope to readers dealing with loss. While her novel seems a little fluffy, with an answer for every problem, Livingston touches on friendships, jealousy, activities, concerns of single-parenting, and other issues that impact widowhood. Throw in a church bazaar, a mystery thief, and a red hat club in the making, and you’ve got the Widows’ Club well underway. Recommended for leisure reading.
