First-Time Novelist Brings 1600s Pirates to LifeBarbour Publishing Launches New Romance and Adventure Series
Uhrichsville, OH—For years, pirates roamed the waters of the world, destroying ships, stealing treasure, ravaging women, and often slaughtering the people they encountered. These ragtag bands of men—and sometimes women—indulged in a riotous lifestyle and rarely feared death.
Now, first-time novelist M. L. Tyndall takes readers inside the rough-and-tumble world of Caribbean pirates of the 1600s in The Redemption (Barbour Publishing, July 2006), the first book in a new romance and adventure series, Legacy of the King’s Pirates.
When Lady Charlisse Bristol bartered passage aboard a merchant ship traveling from London to the Caribbean, she had only one goal in mind—to find her father. Her mother had often spoken lovingly of her father, who captained a merchant ship in the Caribbean. She said her father would send for them, but when her mother died suddenly, Charlisse was left in the care of an abusive and wrath-filled uncle, and her father never appeared. Now she is determined to find the missing piece in her life.
But her plans take an unexpected turn when the ship is destroyed in a storm and Charlisse ends up stranded on an uninhabited island, until a ship of ragtag pirates arrives, captained by the handsome but mysterious Edmund Merrick. Merrick had wandered the seas for years, living the life of a pirate to the fullest. But that was before he had found God. Now he sailed as a privateer for Britain, loving the freedom and adventure of the seas while living out his faith in God. He also has a secret agreement with the governor of Jamaica—to bring to justice the most vicious Caribbean pirates. And there is one Merrick hunts in particular—Edward the Terror.
Knowing she has no other option, Charlisse boards the pirate’s ship for a ride to Port Royal. On board, Merrick takes it upon himself to protect her from the other pirates on the ship. But he finds himself growing more and more interested in Charlisse and she in him. Moved by the story of her desire to find her father, he offers to help but can hardly believe it when he discovers her father’s true identity—Edward the Terror.
When the ship arrives in Port Royal, Merrick hunts down Edward but finds himself in trouble with the law. As Charlisse works to keep Merrick from the gallows, she comes to know God’s love but finds herself in trouble when she attempts to take matters into her own hands.
